Prof Fan Lu has been dedicated to the basic research and clinical development in the field of ophthalmology and visual science over the past decades. She has made many breakthroughs in the myopia laboratory model, ocular imaging, and solutions to the complicated Children refractive error.
She is the principal investigator of many state-level research projects, including China’s national “973” project (as Chief Scientist), Key Technologies R&D Program of Ministry of Science and Technology, and Key Projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. She has won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of National Teaching Achievement and many provincial and ministerial scientific research awards.
Prof Fan Lu and her team managed to build a comprehensive eye healthcare service system, which provides a new medical pattern and a high-quality ophthalmic service model for the public. Its scale and strength are outstanding and has made great contributions to the cause of vision care. Given her accomplishment, she was awarded the Special Expert of Zhejiang Province, the National Labor Day Medal, and the Community Contribution Award for China’s Female Scientists.
