Learn more about the IMCLC.
It is the abbreviation for International Medical Contact Lens Council.
The members of the IMC LC company are listed on this website. Each continent is represented by one or even 2 major contact lens societies.
IMCLC is important because there is a lively exchange in science and research through global networking.
IMCLC is also particularly concerned with the training of young ophthalmologists. Guidelines for the fitting and handling of contact lenses are coordinated globally.
Through the participation of different nations, the view of regional and cultural differences is sharpened. The main goal is the safety of contact lens wearers with healthy and compatible contact lenses.
Myopia prevention is an increasingly important area. In Asian countries, the proportion of myopic people is high. New research results have shown that preventive measures can be successfully initiated.
Myopia prevention begins in childhood, for which there are specially shaped contact lenses. These optimize the image in the eye, which leads to a decrease in myopia or prevents its progression.
Contact lenses have direct contact with the outer eye. If not handled properly and hygied, bacteria can settle on the lens and cause inflammation of the eye. The treatment of such inflammation is carried out in most countries of the world according to the same scientifically agreed guidelines.
Contact lenses cannot damage the eye. The prerequisite is careful handling, regular cleaning or, in the case of daily lenses, regular replacement.
